Buxton v North Ferriby United
FA Cup 2nd Qualifying Round
Saturday 28 September
Kick-off 3.00 pm
North Ferriby United begin their FA Cup campaign with a trip to Evostik Premier Division Buxton. Ferriby have made a good start to the season and are now fourth in the Skrill North. They will not be short of confidence but will not underestimate the threat that Buxton will pose
.This is certain to be a challenging game for Ferriby. Buxton are tenth in the Evostik Premier Division. They have wins and two draws in their seven league games, scoring 17 goals and conceded ten. Buxton have lost three and drawn one of their six home league fixtures but are unbeaten on their travels.
All clubs at this level like to make progress in the Cup. Winning means not only progress to the next round but the prize money also provides a welcome boost to club finances. It also gives a fillip to the players. However, the competition has been one in which Ferriby have often struggled to do well. Hopefully, they will have a good run this season.
The 2-1 against previously unbeaten win over Altrincham last Saturday. was rather more comfortable than the scoreline suggests. Manager Billy Heath was pleased with his team’s performance, “It was a bit of a scrappy game but we battled well and deserved the win. Buxton will provide a tough challenge on Saturday. The Cup is important to the club and the players and we will be hoping to get through to the next round.”
Striker Anthony Wilson is available again following his three match suspension. Danny Hone’s ankle ligament injury will keep him out for a few weeks.. Apart from Hone. Heath should have a full squad to choose from.
Should the game be drawn, the replay will be at the Eon Visual Media Stadium on Tuesday.
