Burscough v North Ferriby
(Match being played at Skelmersdale United FC)
After losing their two opening games, Ferriby will looking to gain at least a point when they play Burscough on Saturday. Burscough have also lost their opening two fixtures. The match is being played at Skelmersdale United because Burscough's ground has been sold by the owners.
Wednesday's 3-6 scoreline against FC United belies the closeness of the game. Ferriby played some good attacking football, creating three well-worked goals, including Gary Bradshaw's superb opening goal. Unfortunately, three late goals for FC United sealed victory for the home side.
Unfortunately Ferriby put themselves under pressure at times with some wayward passing. As Manager John Anderson said. "We played some good passing football but gave the ball away a little easily at times. That gave FC the opportunity to put us under a lot of pressure."
Ferriby's cause was also not helped by conceding two own goals and a penalty. Anderson will no doubt be expecting his players to tighten-up their game at Burscough.
Whilst Anderson and his team will be disappointed at the start to the season, Ferriby are notoriously slow starters. With the quality of much of their football in the first two games they should soon start to hit the winning trail.
Goalkeeper Ben White and striker Phil Jackman made their debuts on Wednesday. Steve Wilson should be available again for Saturday so Anderson should have a full squad to choose from.
Possible Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, Ben Morley, James Williams, Kevin Larvin, Paul Foot, Nathan Peat, Mark Greaves, Chris Bolder, Russell Fry , Gary Bradshaw, Wayne Brooksby, John Leonard, Sam Belcher, Mathew Stirland, Luke Thompson, Leon Rudd, Dan Wright, Phil Jackman
