FA Trophy First Round Replay
Boston United v North Ferriby United
Tuesday 16 December 2014 ; KO 7.45 pm
Ferriby travel to Boston United on Tuesday in an FA Trophy First Round Replay.
The Villagers are currently 10th in the Vanarama Conference North whilst Boston are in 7th place.
Saturday’s game was a very competitive affair. Ferriby had the greater possession and were unfortunate not to win. That said, they would have gone 2-0 down but for a superb penalty save from Adam Nicklin.
Manager Billy Heath commented, “Adam’s save was tremendous. He did really well to focus on the penalty and not be affected by Danny Hone’s sending-off.”
Ferriby had one shot cleared off the line and hit the bar and post. It needed a late equaliser from Ryan Kendall to earn the replay after The Villagers had gone down to a goal against the run of play midway through the second-half.
Boston seemed quite content to sit back on Saturday and deny Ferriby space but one expects that they will have to play a more open game in front of what is a usually vociferous and often critical home crowd on Tuesday.
Ferriby will not be phased by going to Boston. The Villagers won there in a league game at the beginning of the season.
Looking towards the replay, Ferriby manager Billy Heath commented, “It will be another tough game but we obviously feel that we can win. We had the better chances on Saturday and the players showed tremendous spirit to come back from a goal down with only 10 men.”
Heath may have to be creative with his line-up as he has five players injured. Danny Emerton, Matt Wilson, Louis Bruce, Grant Black and Tom Corner are all injured. Corner has ended his loan spell at Buxton but was injured in training in midweek.
NFU’s probable squad : Adam Nicklin, Tom Nicholson, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Danny Hone, Mark Gray, Gregg Anderson, Adam Bolder, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Russell Fry, Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Ryan Kendall, Jason St Juste, Jamie Yates
