Barton Town Old Boys v North Ferriby United
North Ferriby United begin their pre-season fixtures when they make the short trip over The Humber to play Northern Counties East League side Barton Town Old Boys. The home side will not be short of confidence after winning promotion to the NCEL Premier Division last season. They will be keen to gain a victory over their higher-placed neighbours.
For Villagers' manager John Anderson the match gives an opportunity for his players to gain some match practice. As he says, "Pre-season matches are about developing match fitness and sharpness rather than the results."
Most of last season's squad that reached the Evostik Premier Division promotion play-offs have re-signed for the Club. Anderson has made three new signings in Mark Greaves and Nathan Peat from Gainsborough and Mathew Stirland from Ossett Town. Returning to the club is Danny Buttle who has joined from Brigg Town. Chris White has a cruciate ligament injury which will see him virtually all the season.
Anderson may take the opportunity to give opportunities to some of last year's Reserves and perhaps to some triallists.
Probable Ferriby Squad: Steve Wilson, James Williams, Nathan Peat, Mark Greaves , Paul Foot, Mathew Stirland, Kevin Larvin, Danny Buttle, Chris Bolder, Ben Morley, Russell Fry, Gary Bradshaw, Paul Harsley, Wayne Brooksby
