AFC Telford United v North Ferriby United
Saturday 19 October
Kick-off 3.00 pm
North Ferriby United return to Skrill North action on Saturday when they visit seventh-placed AFC Telford United. The Villagers will be looking to consolidate or improve on their second place in the division.
Confidence and optimism is high at the Eon Visual Media Stadium following last Saturday’s FAC Cup 3rd Qualifying Round win over Runcorn Linnets. However, the players now need to focus on two crucial league games before they tackle Alfreton Town in the next round.
Telford have won five of their ten games, drawing three and losing two. They have scored 15 goals and conceded 10. They are never an easy ride on their own ground. Ferriby go in to the game on the back of six successive wins.
Heath will be keeping his players focussed on the task in hand at Telford and to put the FA Cup to the back of their minds for the next five days. Ferriby’s start to life in the Skrill North may have surprised many but Heath has a talented and committed squad that have a healthy belief in their ability.
Commenting on Saturday’s performance, Heath said, “We played patiently today and the goals finally came. Runcorn came at us and made it hard, especially in the first-half. We raised the tempo in the second-half and played the game at a pace that suited us. We pressed higher up the pitch and made better use of the ball. As always, the first goal was the key and it seemed to finish them to some extent. It was another good all-round team performance.”
Looking ahead to Saturday’s game Heath added, “Telford will provide a different challenge on Saturday but we are capable of getting a result if we play to our strengths and ability.
Danny Hone is still recovering from an ankle ligament injury and Dean Lisles is also suffering from an ankle injury.. Central defender Mark Gray returns to the squad after being ineligible for the FA Cup game.
