Vanarama Conference North
AFC Fylde v North Ferriby United
Saturday 4 October 2014 ; KO 3.00 pm
Ferriby travel to ambitious AFC Fylde on Saturday. The Villagers will be looking for a good result after a run of five league games without a win. However, it is a going to be a very difficult game. Fylde are the division’s top scorers and also have the meanest defence.
Fylde have a clearly stated ambition to be in the Football League by 2022 and have made big strides towards achieving that over recent seasons. The club are allegedly one of the Vanarama Conference North’s big spenders.
Despite recent results, Ferriby remain eighth in the Vanarama Conference North. Ferriby have not won any of their last five league games but they have been creating plenty of goal-scoring opportunities. It may be true that you make your own luck but Ferriby have been desperately short of it in front of goal. They have had hit the woodwork, seen shots cleared off the line and have found opposing keepers in tremendous form.
Last week’s victory at Cleethorpes in the FA Cup earned The Villagers a home tie against Grantham Town next Saturday. However, manager billy heath will be urging his players to focus on Saturday’s game at Fylde and Tuesday’s home league game against Leamington.
Ferriby manager Billy Heath comments, “Last week at Cleethorpes we did what we needed to do and that was win and be in the draw for the next round. We could, and should, have scored more goals. However, I’m not overly worried because we are creating plenty of chances and at some point the goals will come.
Fylde will be tough opponents on Saturday but we will go there with our game plan. My players have a tremendous belief in themselves and they also have the ability to perform well.”
Danny Emerton could return following injury. New signing Jason St Juste will be included in the squad. St Juste is a left-winger and is a t Kitts and Nevis international.
NFU’s probable squad : Adam Nicklin, Tom Nicholson, Josh Wilde, Nathan Peat, Danny Hone Matt Wilson, Gregg Anderson, Mark Gray, Adam Bolder, Liam King, Jon D’Laryea, Russell Fry, Nathan Jarman, Tom Denton, Tom Corner, Danny Emerton, Dan Clayton, Louis Bruce, Jason St Juste
